Everything Happens For a Reason

Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away they were meant to be there, to serve some sort of purpose to teach you a lesson, help you figure out who you truly are or who you want to become. You lock eyes with them , they will effect your life in some profound way. And sometimes things happen to you that seem horrible, painful and unfair, but in reflection you realize that without voercoming these obstacles you would have never realized your potential, strength, willpower , or heart.

Every thing happens for a reason.

Nothing happens by chance or by means of good luck, illness, injury, love , lost moments of true greatness or sheer stupidity. All occur to test the limits of your soul. Without these small tests life would be like a smooth paved, straight, flat road to nowhere- Safe and comfortable but dull and utterly pointless. The people you meet affect your life. The successes and downfalls that you experience can create who you are, and the bad experiences can be learned from. In fact, they are probably the most pertinent and important ones. If someone hurt you , betrayed you or broke your heart, forgive them but move on because they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to who you open your heart to. If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you but because they are teaching you to love and open your heart and eyes to the little things.

Right now I am single and I’m still looking for a good woman for friendship or relationship. I am 35 years old and very hardworking and I enjoy reading, stimulating conversation and any outdoor activity. But I also like to spend quiet times pampering the woman I am involved with. I give the best massages and foot rubs and I’m a very passionate person. I am also very outgoing and easy to get along with. I’m not the jealous type. My best personality trait is that I am very laid back and I love to laugh.

I’m now writing a novel. Although I’m ¾ of the way complete, unfortunately I had to hand write it because I don’t have the financial resources to purchase A brother’s 400Sx typewriter. IN 1995 when I was 18, I was sentenced to 54 years in prisons for two armed robberies, aggravated battery, and substantial battery.

My nephew and I robbed a store and we were stupid enough to return to the same store a week later because a different clerk was working . The guy became suspicious and pulled a gun on us. We fought over the gun and I struck the guy with several bottles until he released the gun. We then ran from the store. We did not take any money, but the guy lied and claimed money was taken. I take responsibility for the crime I committed but I do not deserve 54 years in prison.

Since I been in prison, my mother , a brother and aunt has died. I have a 15 year old son who I haven’t seen since he was two.

I was a high school student before my incarceration and I obtained my HSED shortly afterwards. Then completed an office assistant vocational and have not been allowed to take additional vocationals because the prison where I was held only allowed the completion of one vocational per prisoner.
I was denied parole in June of 2009 and given a 48 month defer. The reason given for the defer was that I hadn’t completed all my program needs. The program I am required to take , however , is only available at a medium security, and I’m not eligible for a medium security because of my sentence structure.

I do not make excuses for the choices I’ve made, but several factors lead me to being in prison. I was never taught a work ethic or the moral of right opposed to wrong. My father died when I was eight, and my mother raised me on a limited social security income. I valued money but didn’t have the work ethic to get it lawfully. I believed I could commit crimes because that is what I saw daily. Guns and drugs were the norm. I also had a very cynical view of the world. I believed that if no one else cared, then why should I care. I allowed heart to turn cold, but I was not conscious of the coldness. I believed that violence and not caring for others was the norm. I can say now that I’m trying to change. I’ve found a lot of peace within. I believe we all have the capacity to love or hate, to be kind or cruel, to do right or wrong. We must simply choose to be who we want to be. If I’ve ever released back into Society, I choose humanity.

As a 41 year old retired naval yeoman 3rd class and now incarcerated, please allow me to explain myself.

Originally from N.Y.C. and in the unfortunate circumstance of facing the next 20 years in the Arizona State Prison system. I think back on the obvious spontaneous bad decision which brought me to this place. I cannot dwell on what has been done. While rueful for myself and repentant over the crime, i must look forward and by doing so fill my time with positive and creative endeavors. That is why my immediate ambition is to somehow, with the kind assistance of either individuals or organizations take on and complete a sponsored 'para legal' course which will be officially recognized and fit me for the future.

To this end perhaps, in some way I will atone for my one-time fatal, anti-social error, by putting myself in the position of assistance to fellow inmates so hard pressed for outside legal representation.
I enjoy inter-action with interesting people and at the same time consummate reading of current affairs. I have traveled extensively and believe some of my life accounts are of particular intrigue to other people who really do enjoy the life experience.

At this time my desire is to invoke interest from the civilian world to a point of continued communication. Someone may be encouraged to strike a long term 'penpal' sort of friendship. I will not plague your life through negative influences, nor will i display selfish motives by gesturing an open palm through letters in the search for financial gain.

Post Two: self reflection

Love! Love has always been my achilles heel.. My desire to be loved as deeply and unconditionally as I have loved others has caused me to do many foolish things over the years. It all started when I was young and felt that my father lover my older brother more so than myself. I, being his child too, loved my father and wanted these feelings reciprocated and so I felt that negative attention was better than none at all and so I acted up in an effort to get my fatherto pay more attention to me. When he became angry with me and disciplined me I felt loved because only a father who loved me would discipline me. This is the thought system I adhered to most of my childhood well, that continues throughout my life and I have always been what is caused “a sucker for love”. I actually believe that love can still prevail even in these modern times we’re living in now. I dated many different women whom I have spent much money on and if I couldn’t afford something that they wante I would steal the item or the money needed to purchase it because in my mind at the time, I felt that a loving boyfriend should be able to provide for his girlfriend in all areas and often times, if I couldn’t afford something, the soman I was dating would make me feel inadequate as a man because I wasn’t able to provide for her “needs”. My own feelings of inadequacy along with my desire to be loved were thumbscrews which those I dated turned to their own selfish advantage more often than not. I have now grown more wise as I’ve gotten older but I still am searching for that seemingly elusive unconditional love that I long for. I want to meet a woman with whom I can share a life with comprised of happiness and joy with or without money. For once, I want to meet someone who loves and enjoys me for who I am without ulterior motives. Love was still very much something I desired to find and I have located it at long last. I realized I was searching for fulfillment outside of myself when love has been withing me all this time, for I had to learn to love myself before I am now capable to love another properly. I can now extend my love without compromising the integrity of myself as a man. This is only one of many lessons I have learned in life and I will share more of my thoughts soon. Jeff First wrote me to tell me he had been beaten and maced by guards after being told he would be going back to segregation. Jeff had hesitated, was not resisting, but also not moving. He is one of the men FFUP works with to keep sane and healthy. He is now is writing a book and pursuing a lawsuit concerning his injuries . Often , the law is the only thing the prisoners have to turn to to keep hope up, for there are no resources in segregatiuon and law materials are mandated by the courts.

Searching for Friendship

My name is Lorenzo Solvano Balli.

Everyone has a story and I’d like to be able to hear yours , and maybe be given a chance to share mine.. Although we may be worlds apart, there are qualities of understanding, patience, and the willingness to extend themselves- these qualities are what brings people together from all walks of life and creates that social bond called friendship. Sometimes in our journey through life we happen to discover what is known as an alternate reality. Each of us lives in a microcosm, seeing outside the box is rare. The majority of people see and hear of others who have similar life styles to their own, only worlds apart, Then there are news reports exposing these alternate worlds, only these reports are mere fragments, distinct apparitions that fade away one the channel is changed- the documentation is never really seen, felt, heard, or smelled, without such one could never empathize nor comprehend the images depicted. Fortunately or unfortunately enough, you have either stumbled unconsciously, or boldly entered a domain that very few people care to thin k about, or are simply too lost in their own microcosm to even consider alternate realities. Therefore I confide in you, brave and willing enough to enter this cataclysmic maze. I speak to you as the closest friend in order to obtain a piece of solace in a world of hurt and pain. I understand the obstacles before me, the stereotypes, and ill preconceptions. I can only hope to overcome all odds by extending myself offering you to encounter someone real in a world of phantoms, a piece of my insanity in exchange for a grain of hope. For starts, my up-bringing was not easy for me, being the oldest was hard. I grew up in a single parent home with 1 brother & 3 sisters. Living in Michigan was okay, but not great for my future as you can see. Poverty led me into a life of crime when I was young, at the age of 16, I ended up in juvenile for Auto Theft, my introduction to crime cost me 5 years of my life.

I was released when I turned 21 years old. While incarcerated I acquired my G.E.D., and learned a vocational trade. Being locked up, I learned my lesson and proceeded to live my life here in Wisconsin as a productive member of society. Losing the love and support of my family while in juvenile, I was alone but determined to make it on my own.

I was working and attending a Technical College; An accident took away my second chance. I was in a car accident that killed a person, and I was sent back to prison, even though it was clearly an accident. I've been locked up for about 3 years now. My situation is dire to say the least, with no friends or family prison life is beyond burdensome.

A constant struggle to survive. It is difficult for me to attempt to continue in bettering myself without any support from the outside world, which is the point of this website pasting. They replied stating that they interviewed him and he would not give any information, that they are " monitoring " the situation. We feel short letters, pretty cards, and pictures, are what is possible and will do the most good for now .

I write poetry and am published in several anthologies. I am trying to write a book but it is very difficult under all the pressure daily. If you only know this place is an insane asylum an I don’t get to go outside to rec, and enjoy these beautiful days we have been having- but if you ever been to a pet shelter and you see them animals n them cages, that’s how it is in the hole, they got us confined to a cage with no window-so I don’t go out at all. And in your letter you asked me what property I’m allowed. Now it all depends on what kind of property. I know you are allowed to have a tv, radio, fan , typewriter , clothes and shoes if you have that in your property then yes that’s what you we’re allowed. Now if your talking about stuff like this-newspapers, pictures, newsletters, etc- yeah, we can have all that too. well, I get out of the hole at the end of this year and go back to general population, pending population bed space availability they said to me, but it’s all good cause I’m mentally strong but at times it’s hard too. What I do is write poems. And I’m trying to get a business sat up on the internet but I don’t have no one to help we with that.

I'm looking forward to, hopefully, meeting a nice woman from the Wisconsin or a surrounding state. I basically have no family here. I haven't flirted or relaxed enough to have a face to face conversation with a woman in years. I spent most of my time in Milwaukee and Kenosha... clubbing and doing business to support a flashy life style.

More info about me: My release date is 2021 or 2013 sometime, if granted & complete Bootcamp or ERP. My birthday is April 21, 1984. I'm 5'6" and 145 lbs. I'm of Black and Jamaican descent. I was convicted of conspiracy to commit A/B & A/R. My hobbies are writing urban poetry, listening to Rap/R&B music, working out and learning new things.

My name is Sean. I am from our nations capitol: Washington, D.C.. I was transferred into the Wisconsin Department of Corrections by virtue of an exchange involving the Federal Bureau of Prisons. I am alone in a foreign locale. I have been incarcerated since 1988: I had just turned 18 when I began; I am still considered young. As the years have progressed friends and family have dwindled. I now find myself in a place where I know no ne: I have no one and nothing but my will to progress. Not only could I use a friend, I may even, at this point , opt for a foe(smile).

I still have a significant amount of time before I am eligible for parole consideration. IN the mean I have accomplished, and will continue to strive toward, the achievement of educational and other rehabilitative goals, Through maturation I have become versatile, a lot less complex, humbled, and optimistic. I believe I am more capable of reciprocating rewarding friendship[ now as a result.

Wherefore as I’ve indicated: I could really use an acquaintance with whom to build a strong and prosperous friendship. While I await a response, may you be blessed with mr Michael an abundance of joy and life.
